A C3 and C5 vaccine may be administered which protects against parainfluenza virus (kennel cough) and bordetella bronchisepica (a canine cough). An final vaccine is required 4 weeks after the second vaccination. Annual boosters are recommended.
Puppies and dogs in general are prone to nasty parasites. Preventative treatment is required to ensure an infestation does not occur. Products are readily available on the market to assist in keeping your dogs healthy. You may want to use a product that covers all types of parasites. These include intestinal worms, heartworm, fleas, ticks and mites. Treatments vary in the length they provide protection for, so ensure you read the packaging correctly and set a reminder when its time to re-treat.

There are reports that larger breed dogs should not be de-sexed until they have matured which can sometimes be around 18 months of age. Contact your veterinarian for all advice regarding de-sexing your pet. De-sexing costs will vary form clinic to clinic, with costs anywhere from $300 - $800.
